We all love the meme that says “when you turn 30, everything you know and love turns to cauliflower.” lol but like, it’s gotten out of hand (wing, for 🦋 ). what started as a benign love for @traderjoes cauliflower gnocchi has spiraled OOC.
cauliflower doesn’t belong in 🥞 , 🍪 , 🍞 , or ICE CREAM. YES. WE LIVE IN A WORLD WHERE THERE ARE NOW VEGETABLES ‘HIDDEN’ IN 🍨 . cauliflower rice doesn’t taste like rice. HAVE YOU EVER ACTUALLY TASTED REAL RICE?! 🍚
listen, we are all about cauliflower. as a vegetable. we love vegetables. eat more vegetables, please. it’s high in sulphorane, glucosinates, fiber, and potential anti-cancer compounds, and it tastes amazing roasted with tahini, chimichurri, miso, pesto, hoisin, – any sauce. because since it’s so BLAND – it can easily function as a chameleonic vehicle for other flavors and add texture and nutrients – yay. you can ADD it to rice or mashed potatoes if you like the flavor. but CAUL it what it is – cauliflower.
love and respect it as a vegetable, not a way to “healthify” a food. that’s a form of DIET CULTURE / HEALTHISM – the belief that EVERY SIGNLE THING you eat/do has to be “fighting disease” or “fighting inflammation.” that is fear-inducing and stigmatizes/moralizes food.
cake is awesome. cauliflower is awesome. why can’t we live in the middle of the floor/FLORET?
oh – and “hiding” vegetables in food for kids or adults is lunacy and deceitful. we need to learn to love vegetables in their integral lovely natural forms as VEGETABLES, just like we need to learn to love our bodies as bodies
