….meaning us Essence dietitians have had an emergency stash of almonds in every purse since like 2005.
Not because I am Gigi Hadid’s mom (clearly) telling her to just chew some almonds if she’s feeling weak 💀 which is how the term “almond mom” came to be (we can unpack this… later 🔪)
I keep almonds in my 👛 because
Costco makes a great affordable enormous bag
I celebrate that my son is NOT allergic to almonds (sesame / cashew / pistachio…yes)
They are essentially indestructible in the earthquakes that are the physics of how I treat my bags 💼
They last like forever.
They’re filling enough (protein and healthy fats!!) to emergency tide me over to a real meal (aka when American Airlines delayed our flight 20 hours to colombia on spring break and we had to get off the plane and go home without luggage And come back at 4 am the next day so fun!!!)
Diet culture and food is all about intention and framework. Almonds are just almonds. You can weaponize them or just keep them in your purse for when hunger anger hanger strikes.
